Te Whakahou i Te Marautanga o Aotearoa

E whakahoungia ana Te Marautanga o Aotearoa ki te whakaata i te marautanga nō konei, kua hua mai i te ao Māori, kua ara mai i te anga huatau nei ko Te Tamaiti Hei Raukura. Ka haere tēnei whakahou ā ngā tau e 5 e tū mai ana.

Te Marautanga o Aotearoa is being redesigned to reflect a more indigenous curriculum, grounded in te ao Māori, based on the conceptual framework Te Tamaiti Hei Raukura. The redesign will take place over the next 5 years.

Te Tamaiti Hei Raukura

"Hei tā te tirohanga Māori, ko te tamaiti te waka māna e kawe ngā hiahia me ngā wawata, mai i ngā tūpuna, ki ngā uri. Kei te rerenga nei, 'Te Tamaiti Hei Raukura' te ngako o taua whakaaro"

Kua ahu mai Te Tamaiti Hei Raukura i te tirohanga Māori, ā, ka whakaata i ngā uara o te ao Māori, me ngā hiahia o ngā whānau mō ā rātou tamariki, hei Māori, hei kirirarau o te ao hoki. Ka whakatūturu i te ākonga hei pūtahi o te ako, ā, ka hāpai i ō rātou tūranga hei mokopuna, ā, hei tīpuna mō anamata. Ka poipoi Te Tamaiti Hei Raukura i ngā ākonga, hei ākonga, hei kaiwhakaaro, hei kaihāpai hoki i Aotearoa me te ao whānui. Nā tēnei anga te whakahou i whakanoho kia ahu ai ki wāhi whakaihiihi, ā, ka whakawhanaketia tonutia ā ngā tau e 5 e tū mai ana.

 

“From a Māori perspective, the child is the carrier of hopes and aspirations between past and future generations. The expression, ‘Te Tamaiti Hei Raukura’ captures the essence of this notion”

Te Tamaiti Hei Raukura stems from a Māori world view and reflects the values of Māori society and what whānau want for their children as Māori, and as global citizens. It places ākonga at the centre of learning while recognising their place as mokopuna and ancestors for the future. Te Tamaiti Hei Raukura nurtures ākonga as learners, thinkers and contributors to Aotearoa and the wider world. The framework places the redesign in an exciting direction and will be developed further over the next 5 years.

Mō tēnei haerenga kia hoahoa anō i te marautanga, me tāpae, me uru hoki ngā ākonga, ngā kaiako, ngā kura, ngā whānau, ngā hapū me ngā iwi. Ko te mātauranga me ngā tohutohu a ō tātou hapori ngā ara matua hei whakatinana i ngā wawata mō ngā mokopuna, hei panoni tūturu hoki mō Aotearoa. 

Kei raro nei he pārongo me pēhea te whai wāhi mai.

Ki te hiahia koe ki te hono mai, he whakaaro oū, he kōrero rānei āu e hiahia nei koe ki te tuku mai, īmēra mai.

 

The journey to a redesigned curriculum requires the contribution and participation of ākonga, kaiako, kura, whānau, hapū and iwi. Mātauranga and advice from our communities are key to realising aspirations for mokopuna and creating real change for Aotearoa.

We have formed Te Rōpū Whāiti, an advisory group made up of Māori education experts to provide advice and guidance to the Ministry and to working groups from the sector throughout the re-design of Te Marautanga o Aotearoa.
