Lesson sequence

The teacher prints and laminates Resource sheet 5D: Ko wai ahau? and places it on the wall. 

A different student secretly fills the spaces in each lesson, writing information about themselves using a white-board pen. 

The rest of the class must guess who the mystery student is.

Tips

The teacher or students could describe other people, for example, popular teachers, iwi leaders, television celebrities. 

It is useful to encourage students to investigate and use the correct versions of Māori place names, for example, Ōtākou, Whanganui, Ōtāwhao (Te Awamutu).

 

Further learning

Incorporate kīwaha into the sentences, for example:

e tino kaha au ki te ... could be He toki au ki te ...
