The Ministry is seeking to procure enriching local curriculum experiences that complement and enhance student learning through The New Zealand Curriculum and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa.
The Enriching Local Curriculum (ELC) programme encourages the use of local curriculum enrichment experiences, as we know that many communities already have businesses providing enriching educational experiences. Successful applicants will provide experiences that draw on local resources and expertise, and that reflect meaningful bicultural partnerships with key mana whenua and other local knowledge holders.
The ELC aims for experiences to be authentic, hands-on, minds-on and interactive while building on class learning. Providers and schools work in partnership to ensure that programmes meet the learning needs of students in state and integrated schools, kura and registered private schools in years 1-13.
Providers will draw on community resources and expertise to access local knowledge and iwi knowledge. Providers will work with teachers to ensure experiences will complement class learning in schools and kura.
Service delivery can be on special sites, in school, virtual, or elsewhere in the community. In essence, they provide experiences not easily replicated in regular classwork.
This is an opportunity for providers such as community organisations, marae, zoos, museums, historic parks, art galleries, outdoor education facilities, performing arts and science centres.
The Ministry is seeking to procure a panel of suppliers for ELC services that complement and enhance student learning between Years 1-13 through the NZC and TMoA.
To be considered, we require suppliers to complete and submit the ELC RFP Response Form and the 2021 ELC Excel Budget workbook available on GETS. For assistance with this process, please contact GETS | Ministry of Education - Enriching Local Curriculum (ELC)
